8 things recruiters can do with your company's social media posts

Are you struggling to get into social media? Or just see it in your feed and think "nahhhhh can't be arsed with that!". Some recruitment consultants are embracing social media, and what it can bring to you. Others, could do with a kick up the arse - or some guidance.

Well, here are 8 easy ideas to get you started on engaging with your company's social media posts.

8 things recruiters can do with your company's social media posts:

  1. Like it

  2. Comment on it

  3. Share it in a group

  4. Share it on your own feed

  5. Tag a colleague

  6. Tag a candidate

  7. Tag a client

  8. Email it to someone

Like it

Easiest thing to do. Although, it adds next to no value. There are robots that can like things for you, and LinkedIn, Facebook etc score these as a low form of engagement

Comment on it

If you see a job, add a comment like “looking to interview ASAP!” Or “just placed here - connect with me today for more info”. Because you comment on it, it’s more likely to be seen in other social feeds

Share in a group

Make sure you’re in as many relevant groups as possible, and share the link into the group. GROUPS WHERE YOUR POTENTIAL CANDIDATES HANG OUT. The biggest groups with the most active users.

Share it on your own feed

Your company and your own network are 2 different things. Just because it's posted on your company feed, doesn't mean that your connections will see the post. So, share it (add your own comment as well). If it's business news, CONGRATULATE the CEO by tagging them in. Say WELL DONE to the MD by mentioning them. These are simple ways to get noticed in a crowded market.

Tag a colleague

If it's a job that is posted, simply something like "get in touch with Rich (colleague) for more details" or similar. Tagging someone means that the social networks will rank the engagement very highly - much higher than a "like".

Or you could have some bantz. Up to you. To tag someone, type and start typing the name.

Tag a candidate

It doesn't have to be someone you've placed... or even on the market now. Just by tagging someone in and asking "Anyone look good for this @Rich Gibbard?"

Recruiters tend to call or email people, looking for referrals. This is another way to get attention, and stay in the mind of your best connections.

Tag a client (or potential client)

Recruiters, naturally, hate sharing their clients details. It's a sin.

BUT, if your relationship is solid enough, it's another way to stay connected without pestering.

The beauty here is, if you've NOT worked with a client - and you tag them in some positive news... THEN, you're playing to their ego AND doing something different. It's a different way to get noticed... so when you do call or email them, your name is likely to be recognised.

Easy things like "Congrats on your year @Rich Gibbard" or "Exciting times @Rich Gibbard". Doesn't have to be massive. Just something to get you noticed.

Email it to someone

Copy the link, and ping it over to someone's inbox. It's a cop out, and a bit of a waste of social media... but at least you're sending it to someone. And it's a bit different.

A couple more things to think about

  • Nobody really cares about your private life, apart from you

  • Trying something different is better than not trying anything at all

  • It takes time. Keep doing it consistently, and you'll get rewards from it - so don't give up
